What Is the CRS?

The CRS is SSM’s new online platform for company incorporation, updating company information, and lodging statutory documents under the Companies Act 2016, Interest Schemes Act 2016, and Trust Companies Act 1949. It consolidates services previously spread across MyCoID, e-Secretary, and various counter-based services into a single platform, and is accessed through the existing SSM4U portal. Existing SSM4U users log in with the same credentials, while new users must register and complete identity verification at an SSM counter first.

Phase 1 of CRS was originally scheduled for 30 June 2026 but was pushed back; MyCoID, e-Secretary, and counter services actually closed on 7 July 2026, and CRS went live on 14 July 2026. This first phase covers company name search, incorporation, company information updates, charges, striking off, receivership and other insolvency processes, corporate intermediaries registration, and related over-the-counter services. Further functionality is expected in later phases.

What Actually Matters for Your Business

A few operational details are worth flagging, since they affect day-to-day filing more than the platform change itself:

• No Express Filing. CRS does not offer an expedited filing option, so urgent lodgements no longer have a fast-track route and as a result, build extra lead time into anything time-sensitive.
• Fees are unchanged, but payments made through CRS are not refundable. If an application is later withdrawn, so it pays to have documents finalised before submitting.
• One login session per account. Only one person can be logged into a given SSM4U/CRS account at a time, worth noting if multiple staff at your company (or your company secretary’s firm) need access.
• Drafts are only retained for 7 days, so an in-progress application that sits untouched for more than a week will be lost.
• A Maker-Checker function is available, which can help firms build an internal review step into the filing process before submission.

Late Lodgement Fee Exemption – Time-Sensitive

SSM has granted an exemption from late lodgement fees for CRS submissions from 14 July 2026 to 30 September 2026. A separate exemption also applies to documents that fell due during the earlier MyCoID/counter closure period of 20 to 30 June 2026. Name approvals that expired due to the system closures have also been extended for the affected period. If you have any statutory documents that were delayed by the transition, this window is worth using, the exemption will not last indefinitely.

Current Operational Status

The launch was followed by a period of instability, with practitioners reporting outages and errors into mid-to-late July. SSM confirmed the system was restored on 17 July 2026, alongside a new daily maintenance window from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, meaning CRS is intended to be available for 16 hours a day rather than around the clock. Some intermittent issues have continued to be reported by users even after the restoration announcement.

Practical implication for filings: don’t rely on the system overnight, build a buffer into any deadline-driven lodgement, and confirm your document status directly on the CRS dashboard rather than assuming a submission has gone through.
